We’ve already reported today on the faulty Blu-ray drives in some Xbox One consoles, and the fact Microsoft is shipping them out with scratched casing. But now another issue has been identified and recorded in a YouTube video.
Something inside the Xbox One in the video below is making an awful buzzing noise. It’s almost like fingernails on a chalk board at certain points. It doesn’t seem to match the sound created by the faulty Blu-ray drives we’ve already heard, in fact I’d say it sounds much more like an over active hard drive that’s on its way out.
We must stress that this is just one Xbox One and we don’t know the history. It may have been damaged in some way, and with the room being dark you can’t tell if there’s any damage to the casing.
Does anyone else have any ideas what could be making this happen? It could be an extreme version of the Blu-ray faulty drive issue, a faulty hard drive, or an issue with the cooling fan sitting on top of the main processor and memory chips inside the case. I don’t believe there’s anything else with moving parts inside the console capable of emitting such a sound.
Whatever it turns out to be, this is clearly another Xbox One that needs to be returned to the store and replaced.
