Like most phones on the planet, yours probably only has one SIM card. Dual SIM phones are common in some regions, but that’s not usually an option in the US. You no longer have to stare blankly at your single SIM card in despair — the Teleza promises to give you access to three active SIM cards from a single phone.
The Teleza is essentially an external quad-band GSM radio that is controlled entirely from your phone or tablet. It connects over Bluetooth to your device and houses two SIM cards — that makes three accessible numbers if you count the one already in your phone. The SIMs in the Teleza act just like regular phone numbers with calls, SMS, and data. The only difference is that you access those numbers via a Teleza app.
This device could be incredibly useful for travelers who want to have multiple SIMs from multiple countries readily available. It can also add GSM calling to a CDMA-only device that would otherwise be useless in many countries. Even without hopping a plane, there is a use case for the Teleza. Maybe you just want to keep your work and personal lines separate, but don’t want to deal with multiple phones.
In addition to the regular iPhone-friendly Teleza DSR, there is the DSR+, which will work with most Android devices and newer iPads and iPod Touches. Thus, a tablet without any mobile connectivity could suddenly gain access to two phone numbers. In addition to adding more numbers to your device, the Teleza will act as a wireless shutter control and media remote.
The Teleza is available for pre-order now at $129.99 and is expected to ship in January. Since it doesn’t technically exist yet, we don’t have to way to know how well it works, but the maker is promising refunds within 30 days if the device isn’t to your liking.
