At the beginning of August Nomad Goods announced that it was getting ready to launch the NomadPlus — a clever combination of an iPhone charger and a battery in one unit, giving you a way to recharge your smartphone either at a power outlet or away from one. This week the NomadPlus became an even better proposition as the battery just got bigger.
The original NomadPlus was set to ship with a 1500mAh battery inside, which equated to enough charge to get your iPhone 5S battery up to 70%. However, Nomad Goods has figured out a way to increase the battery size to 1800mAh, meaning it can now charge your iPhone to 100% capacity. The icing of the cake being the price hasn’t changed and remains at $39.

You can actually pre-order one for just $27.30 right now using the code “NOMAD30″ at the Nomad website. That offer ends at the end of this week, though, so be quick if you want one. Shipping to the US, UK, Canada, and Australia is free, although it looks as though you can only pre-order the USA-style plug version at the moment.
The unit itself measures 52 x 53 x 31mm and weighs in at 60 grams with the new, slightly larger capacity battery. Its charge output is rated at 5V/1A making it great for smartphones, but super slow for tablets. It’s also constructed from high impact polycarbonate so will be fine thrown in a bag amongst your other clutter.
The NomadPlus will be a wise investment for a lot of smartphone owners, not just those with an iPhone in their pocket. USB charging is fast becoming universal across devices, and we all end up carrying a charger around at some point. Having a full charge available without needing yet another device is very convenient, it’s also one less thing to worry about losing.
