Bungie’s latest game looks increasingly epic, but more and more it looks like Microsoft is on the backburner for this next adventure. Beta details for Destiny have been announced, and Xbox One fans are going to have to wait just a little longer than everyone else to get their hands on it.
While it has been accused of being just a little too much like Halo, you can’t argue that Destiny looks visually impressive. Bungie has been hyping this game up for well over a year now, and while a private beta has taken place there are still plenty of people out there left wondering when their pre-order will grant them access to one of the public betas. Activision has made the details of that public beta available, and unfortunately it looks like Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners are going to be the last in the clubhouse this time.
Starting June 17 at 10am Pacific, select PS4 and PS3 owners who have pre-ordered the game will be granted access to check out what Activision calls a “diverse sampling of major activities featured in the full game.” This beta will conclude on July 21, and will open back up on July 23 at 10am Pacific. The second opening will see the addition of select Xbox One and Xbox 360 players who have pre-ordered the game, with the flood gates opening to all pre-order participants on July 27.
It’s never been clear why Sony has gotten all of the exclusive goodies for Destiny, but with early access to the beta as well as a one year exclusive to certain content and a special Destiny bundle for the PS4 coming out on launch day (Sepember 9), it’s a good time to be a PS4 fan.
We’ve still got a little while to wait until this extended sneak peek of the game becomes available, but it certainly looks as though Bungie is prepared to deliver a Halo-level hit across several platforms.
