Cliff Lee was right...Phillies fans are the best around. They are never tazzed on the field, they don't dump their beers on children from rival teams, and they don't assume a world series victory every year. Oh wait..

Dump beers on children from rival teams? Never heard that one before lol. And we assume a World Series victory when we have a good team and we think we are good enough to win, which has been since 2008. If you have a team as good as the Phillies roster, the expectations are going to be high from the fans. Congratz to the Reds for getting into the playoffs last year and not winning a single game.

We would have won game 2 had Utley not faked that HBP. That gave the Phillies an extra out that they needed to score in that inning that put them ahead in the game. That game was the pivotal game in the series.

Phillies aren't getting into the playoffs in 2011, bank on it. They wouldn't have made it last year either if they didn't make a late season run.

You're saying the Phillies, who have constructed one of the best pitching rotations in the history of baseball on paper won't make the playoffs but you think the Reds will? Are you an idiot? The only team in their division that can compete with the Phillies will be the Braves and the Phillies should be a way better team then them.

The Reds are going to make the playoffs. They're in the NL Central.

As for the Phillies pitching staff? Yes, on paper one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. But the age of their pitching staff is something to be concerned about. When you have a starting pitcher pushing 50 years old and three of the other four are in their 30s and have pitched 200+ innings for years, you can't expect a healthy rotation all year. Expect every fifth game to be a loss when Moyer goes down sometime during the year, and expect inconsistency with Oswalt.

The Phillies offense was only slightly above average in the league last year, and expect it to slip to below average with the loss of Werth.

The only way I see the Phillies making the playoffs in 2011 is if their pitching staff stays healthy all year. Good luck with that.

Moyer isn't even in their rotation and he got hurt like a month ago in some winter-league game and is getting Tommy-Johns surgery and he said he expects to come back after it lol. They never planned for him to be in their rotation next year anyway. And yes I do expect the Phillies offense to go down a little because I realize how good of a player Werth was but, Utley, Rollins, and Howard did not have their best years statistically last year and hopefully they'll be able to step it up next year. Victorino is a good steady center fielder too. If they can hit average to a little above average, they'll be fine due to their stellar pitching staff.

By the way, St. Louis and Milwaukee can fight for the NL Central with the Reds. Especially since the Brewers picked up Greinke today.

I see where hunt is coming from. The phillies are old. You can't rely on most of them. In the rotation it's just halladay that is almost certain will have a good year. Victorino consistent and ruiz. But when you have people like ibanez and rollins that get injured a lot. And utley and Howard will have bad seasons. If everything goes right ya phillies will probably win NL pennant. But with a few injuries and inconsistency they're screwed

If the Phillies roster is stacked and has been good since 2008, then how did they loose to the SF Giants?

The Giants had better pitching in the playoffs last year then the Phillies. The Phillies hitting sucked throughout the playoffs last year.

And year Adidas they are getting old. Time is running low for them to be able to get back to the World Series. 3 Seasons MAX left with the core that they currently have.

So do you use the milk after it expires too or just the Phillies?
