BF4 players have completed the very first community challenge, collecting 10 million dog tags in 6 days.

One of the features of Battlefield 4 player appreciation month is a new community challenge. DICE challenged players to collect 10 million dog tags via knife kills in Battlefield 4 from February 5th to February 11th. Players completed the mission one day ahead of time, getting all 10 million dog tags.

And the price for all those who participated will be a gold Battlepack, which will be awarded on February 20th. Other parts of player appreciation month include a free bronze or silver Battlepack every day to all players, and free weapon unlocks such as handguns for all players.

While one can argue that the prize for the dog tag challenge is somewhat underwhelming (just a gold Battlepack), the challenge does bring the community together, working towards a common goal. Hopefully DICE will have more of these in the future, and perhaps with some better rewards (maybe weapon unlocks?).
