We're not sure if Apple will ever release a proper point-and-shoot camera--the iPhone 5S seems to handle the task of snapping photos fairly well, after all. But as reported by Wired, Cupertino's lead designer has teamed up with renowned industrial designer Marc Newson to create a one of a kind Leica camera to benefit charity.

The November 23 (RED) auction will donate all proceeds to*Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. Based on the Leica M--which retails for around $7,000--the unique digital camera apparently went through 500 prototypes before the final version was manufactured over the course of 85 days. Yeah, it's not going to be cheap.
The Ive/Newson Leica features an aluminum body with tens of thousands of individual perforations, and houses a full-frame CMOS sensor behind its*APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens.
When the auction goes live next month, you can also bid on a unique Steinway piano designed by Ive and Newson, as well as some 18K solid gold Apple EarPods to match your gold iPhone 5S.
