Amazon is finally ready to unveil their Android phone, and they announced this by plastering a huge invite on their homepage for the whole world to take part in.
For the most part, Amazon has been successful with their Fire-branded Android devices. The Fire TV is super cool and crazy powerful, the Kindle Fire devices have carved a significant niche out for the company in the tablet market, and all they need is a phone in order to complete the digital trifecta of awesome. We’ve seen the leaks, heard the rumors, and now there’s a press even on the 18th of June. The cool thing about this event is that you’re invited.
All of you. All of us. Seriously.
Amazon has a teaser video on their site with people talking about how incredible the experience is, and how it moves around with the users. Apparently, there are sensors on the front of the phone that delivers a 3D experience of some kind. It’s not clear exactly what the UI is like, but clearly it’s unlike anything Amazon’s competitors are doing right now. Whether or not that matters in the day-to-day use of a smartphone is something we’ll have to decide after using it for ourselves, and apparently June 18 is the day that happens.
If you want to take part in this event, all you need to do is head to Amazon’s homepage and click to register for an invitation. If you’re picked, which will happen before June 12, you’ll be able to travel to Amazon in Seattle and see this new phone for yourself.
