Ubisoft has revealed that the PlayStation-exclusive DLC for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch Dogs may be available on other platforms after six months.
The information comes courtesy of yesterday's new PlayStation 4 trailer. At around the 1.15 mark, small print first spotted by Shack News*explains that the content will only be exclusive to Sony platforms for six months.
While we knew previously that the DLC was only a timed-exclusive, this is the first time we've been given an exact timeframe to work with. What's especially interesting though is the fact that there's no such small print in the European version of the trailer.
In terms of what the exclusive DLC contains, anyone playing Black Flag on Sony platforms will be given access to three missions starring*an older Aveline de Grandpré from last year's Vita title Assassin's Creed: Liberation. Watch Dogs, meanwhile, will come with four bonus missions that unlock an extra outfit for protagonist Aiden Pearce.
The implication of this is that the DLC will be available on Xbox One and other platforms once the timed deal expires; we've reached out to Ubisoft for clarification exactly what platforms should expect to see it, as well as what the lack of small print on the European trailer means. As soon as we hear back, we'll update the story.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag sets sail on*Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC on October 29. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will be available when the consoles launch. Watch Dogs, meanwhile, was delayed earlier this month*and now won't be available until 2014.
