A new security exploit allows attackers to crash any player in the game.
A new Battlefield 4 security exploit lets attackers target specific players on a server and force them to crash, according to numerous reports. The attackers exploit a vulnerability or glitch in the game, where any player can be forced to crash.
As the video above shows during a live Twitch stream, to the player it appears that several “No free Commander slot” messages appear, where after the game crashes to desktop. According to MP1st, it appears that this only affects servers where the Commander feature is enabled.
Attackers have been targeting those who live-stream on Twitch — they figure out what server the player is on, and force them to crash. It could also be used against regular players who happen to be playing well in a round, or just as a way of getting back at someone on the enemy team.
So far it seems that the Battlefield 4 security exploit is used only to troll other players, but this could lead to more serious security problems.
DICE and EA have yet to respond to this issue.
