The extended weekend is upon us, and for many in the US, it means the end of the summer season. If you’re one of many who will not be out and about this weekend, or you are stuck out with family and need a good escape, here are three great new games you could lose yourself in over the holiday.
[h=3]Back to Bed[/h]Available for iOS, Android, and PC, Back to Bed is a quirky 3D isometric puzzle game that is sure to keep you busy for a while. Like most 3D isometric puzzle games, the real difficuly is remembering that you are operating in a 3D space, and will occasionally need to run up the walls or climb up a sideways staircase in order to complete your objectives. Most importantly, you have to make sure your sleepwalking friend Bob does not fall off the world and die in his sleep. The game is also only $4, so there’s no reason not to add it to your game catalog if you dig quirky puzzles.
[h=3]Five Nights at Freddy’s[/h]This super creepy game has made its way from PC to Android, and as a result manages to be even more gripping and creepy. The game places you in the control panel of a themed environment, where you must monitor the animatronic puppets out on the show floor to make sure they aren’t misbehaving. Five Nights at Freddy’s does a fantastic job forcing you to focus all of your attention on the screen, so your whole body jumps when something alarming happens. It’s the kind of thing you play in the dark for kicks, and for $2.99 it’s plenty of entertainment for the long weekend.
[h=3]Alone[/h]Have you ever wondered what Asteroids would have been like if you didn’t fire single pixel rounds that shattered massive hunks of space rock, and instead were forced to fly around and escape everything that was hurtling towards you? Alone is like that, and if you are into twitchy gameplay and split-second action, this is worth checking out. The folks at Laser Dog Games (creators of PUK) have worked hard to create a new take on the side-scrolling dodge-fests of our childhood. Whether you are playing this on a phone or a tablet, you’ll find it is incredibly easy to get sucked in. Besides, it’s only $1.99.
