If you’re looking forward to the upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor game, Wikia and Warner Bros. have teamed up to release a must have companion app for all things related to the franchise.
Middle-earth experts the world over have poured their collective knowledge into online repositories like Wikia for years now. These pages serve as living, growing, evolving memorials to the creator of this world. But they also act as the most comprehensive quick reference you could possibly ask for when trying to navigate all of the new stories created by the movies and games that have cropped up in recent years.
Shadow of Mordor is one such game, and the creators have decided to take this opportunity to make sure fans of the world know exactly what is going on with Palantir, an iOS app built with the help of Wikia.

The Official Shadow of Mordor Palantir app will serve as a digital compendium for all things Middle-earth, but also use the microphone on your iOS device to sync up with game trailers and eventually in-game experiences to deliver additional information about the world you are traveling through. This includes documentation on the places in Middle-earth you are traveling through, but also exclusive game content and walkthrough information stored on the Shadow of Mordor Wikia.
Because it is powered by such a massive crowd-sourced database, the app will only grow more useful over time and be an invaluable resource once the game is released.
You can grab the app for free today as long as you have an iOS device, and test out the sync mode on the Shadow of Mordor game trailers. There’s no mention of Android availability just yet, but we’ve still got a bit until the game finally hits shelves so here’s hoping.
