On Wednesday morning, Motorola announced the Moto G smartphone. As a follow-up to the recently launched Moto X, the Moto G features similar design aesthetics, but with a lower cost of entry. According to Motorola, the company feels the smartphone industry has treated a portion of consumers as "second-class" citizens, due to high cost handsets.

The Moto G is, apparently, designed with those consumers who aren't capable of buying a $600 smartphone in mind. The device includes a 4.5-inch HD display, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, "all-day battery life," and over 19 customization options when it comes to picking the color of your Moto G. Motorola's handset will launch with Android 4.3, with a guaranteed update to Android 4.4 KitKat early next year.
Launching in Brazil and parts of Europe this week, the Moto G will also make it's way to Canada and Asia in the coming weeks. A U.S. launch is planned for January, with the Moto G available through Motorola.com contract-free for $179 (8GB) or $199 (16GB).
