While Microsoft’s Xbox marketing team is busy promoting Destiny Fragrance, the retail arm is trying to figure out how to get more Xbox One consoles flying off the shelves. We’ve said that games are the key, but we meant brand new games and new IP. For now, Microsoft has decided existing games for free is the best they can do.
An announcement has been made on Xbox Wire that between September 7-13 any Xbox One console purchase will come with a choice of free game. The offers looks like it covers any and all disc-based games out there as long as it they aren’t priced above $59.99. Those title highlighted in the advertising include:

  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition
  • Madden NFL 15
  • Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
  • Titanfall
  • Watch Dogs
The announcement also mentions Destiny as being eligible, though, which will be a popular choice for anyone taking advantage of this offer.
It also looks as though you can double up on the included games by selecting an Xbox One that already comes with a game bundled. So, for example, you could pick up an Xbox One NFL 15 or Call of Duty console and also select another game for free.
While it’s not an offer that will tempt gamers already set on purchasing a PS4, it will certainly convince a few who are sitting on the fence or who were waiting for another price drop. If you’re lucky, the retailer you visit may also have lowered the price of the console, too.
