Android devices in general have a history of suffering from a lack of interesting accessories, but the Nexus line in particular has historically not seen much more than some cases and an updated Qi charger. Several leaks have pointed to this year being a little different, as we see keyboard cases and several other accessories leak ahead of the official HTC Flounder announcement.
Google’s next wave of Nexus-branded devices, complete with Android L in all of its polished splendor, is on the way this fall. Last year we saw the launch of the Nexus 5 on October 31, so it seems likely that we’ve got a bit of a wait ahead of us for the next in this line to show up. Based on the information we’ve collected so far, it looks like Android L is going to be released in smartphone and tablet forms, courtesy of an HTC-made 9-inch tablet and a Motorola phone somewhere within the 5-inch range.
If history is any indicator these are going to be very nice devices for anyone looking to upgrade this holiday season, but perhaps more interesting than the details of the launch itself is the hope that there will be some useful accessories at launch for this new hardware.

Thanks to the folks at Android Police, we’re now seeing keyboard cases and references to “Magic” cases for the HTC Flounder. This keyboard case is of a unique design, as it appears to serve as both a folio and a stand for typing. The tablet looks like it would snap over the keyboard for traveling, but then you can dock the tablet and use the folio part as a stand. The design suggests the tablet would be vertical when sitting in the dock, which may mean the microUSB port on the side could charge the tablet while sitting in this configuration. Given the aluminum design that has been rumored for this tablet, it’s possible there’s a pin-set charger.
We’ve still got quite a wait ahead, with no shortage of amazing hardware being announced between now and then, but it looks like Google’s Android L launch is really going to be something special this year.
