Battlefield 4 Dragon's Teeth expansion will bring a new Ballistic Shield gadget for players to hide behind.
According to rumors out there, the next Battlefield 4 DLC, called Dragon’s Teeth, will bring a brand new gadget, never before seen in the series: a ballistic shield. These used to be popular in Counter-Strike years ago, mainly because they were some of the most annoying gadgets players could use.
DICE has yet to officially release any details on the Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth expansion, so far we’ve only heard rumors about a possible May 2014 release date. The idea of the ballistic shield is the first glimpse of new content in Dragon’s Teeth, mainly because it comes from a reputable source: DICE’s own Ryan Duffin.
According to a GDC talk given by Duffin, he mentioned a two-handed ballistic shield that would be available in Dragon’s Teeth. Initially, he says, the team wanted a shield that players could deploy and hide behind and fire a as well, but they decided to make the shield a two-handed movable shield instead.
While players won’t be able to fire while using the shield, they will have a melee attack with a range of about a meter, according to Duffin.
Finally, Duffin said about the shield: “It turns out that stopping bullets in a first-person shooter is a ton of fun. We’re confident that it will create a new dynamic for the game”.
We can’t wait to see how it actually works in multiplayer.
