"Destiny isn't Destiny without the most crucial component."
By Mike MahardyBungie's newest shooter releases tomorrow, and the developer is warning that day-one reviews might not paint the entire picture, according to the Bungie blog.
"After thousands of internal playtests, an internal Alpha, and a public Beta, we’ve also learned that Destiny isn’t Destiny without the most crucial component to our living, social world: You," Bungie writes.
This being the Halo developer's first foray into the console MMO space, Bungie doesn't think impressions will be as well informed without thousand of fans present in the world of Destiny. The developer said that without Guardians exploring the frontier, and populating the last safe haven on Earth, the game is a "shadow of what it could be."
"We don’t believe Destiny is a typical shooter. You could experience the storyline, jump into a few rounds of competitive multiplayer, and form a Fireteam of friends and take on all the Strikes and you would just be getting started. Those activities are critical components of Destiny, but they are also a foundation for so much more."
IGN's Destiny review-in-progress is being streamed for readers. From Sept. 8-12, a number of IGN editors will jump into the review stream, and end each day by discussing various mechanics, anecdotes and impressions. To join the team as they fight their way across Earth, head here.
