EA and DICE have suspended all work on future BF4 expansions and are solely focusing on fixing the game right now.

It’s not news that there are numerous issues with Battlefield 4, from netcode, to crashes, and a lot of stuff in between, across all platforms. EA and DICE have recognized the seriousness of these problems, and as a result, they’ve halted all development on future Battlefield 4 expansions in order to work on fixing the game.
It’s a general belief that EA rushed Battlefield 4 past quality control in order to beat Call of Duty Ghosts to market. Battlefield 4 did succeed in beating Call of Duty Ghosts on the release date — by one week. What we got, though, was a game that was far from finished. It’s been over a month since BF4 was released, and only now is the game actually playable, after numerous client patches and over a dozen server patches.
DICE previously said that the entire team at their offices in Stockholm is working on fixing Battlefield 4, and now the team in Los Angeles is joining in. Earlier today, the latest round of patches were released, this time for the PS3 and PS4.
While work on all future Battlefield 4 expansion has been halted, the China Rising expansion was released earlier this week. It was already in the final stages of development before EA decided to focus 100% on fixing the game.
In the end, we’re glad that everyone at DICE is working to fix the game. EA should have made this announcement many weeks ago, as it would have gone a long way to calm the Battlefield 4 player base.
Here’s EA’s statement in full:
“First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4. We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game – it is absolutely our #1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we’re not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain. We will not stop until this is right”
