Welcome to the first edition of the 2013 Fantasy Football Injury Report.* As always, we will take a look at the key injuries of the week and what impact it will have on your fantasy football teams.* With fantasy football draft season upon us, these pre-season injuries can wreak havoc on your strategy.* Training camps just opened and already we have seen a rash of injuries that will certainly impact your draft strategy.* So, without further adieu, here is the 2013 debut edition of the Fantasy Football walking wounded.
*
Football is BACK!! Check out our 2013 Fantasy Football Rankings NOW to be ahead of your competition.*

*
Percy Harvin (WR-SEA).After being acquired by Seattle in a big offseason trade, Percy Harvin will have to wait quite awhile before making his debut in a Seahawks uniform after undergoing successful hip surgery this past week.* Harvin is expected to begin his rehab in short order, so there is a chance he could play at some point later in the season.* From a fantasy perspective, it may be too late for Harvin to make an impact assuming he does not return before Week 13 (based on your league’s playoffs beginning in Week 14).* If your league has a deep roster with a plethora of bench spots, then Harvin is worth a later round pick to take a chance on. *
Jeremy Maclin (WR-PHI).
It was the perfect storm for Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.* He was the Eagles best receiver heading into free agency, so there was a lot expected of him this season.* Then, he tore his ACL at the beginning of training and will now miss the entire season.* Clearly he should not be drafted in non-keeper leagues.* But those of you in keeper leagues could consider him later on in the draft as someone who can potentially bounce back in 2014.* Theoretically this should have opened the door for Riley Cooper to emerge with a bigger role.* But instead, he is pre-occupied taking sensitivity classes because he is a racist prick.
Hakeem Nicks (WR-NYG).
Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has already missed time during training camp with a* groin injury.* He expects to be back shortly which is encouraging, but proceed with caution.* Nicks has gained a well-deserved reputation for being an injury prone player and typically misses a couple games a year.* That is not what you want from a top tier receiver which Nicks can be if he is completely healthy and dependable.* He is playing for a contract this season which should provide him with extra incentive.* But draft him with the expectation that he will not be 100% at any time during the season.
Dennis Pitta (TE-BAL).
Another pre-season casualty is Ravens’ tight end Dennis Pitta who suffered a dislocated and fractured hip last week in training camp.* Pitta underwent surgery and will miss the entire season.* This is will have a big effect for fantasy players who were ready to buy into Joe Flacco’s hype.* Pitta was emerging as Flacco’s favorite target, and with all of the other injury woes Baltimore is facing this would have especially put Pitta near the top of the second tier of tight ends.*
Giovani Bernard (RB-CIN).
Early on in this fantasy football draft season, Bengals running back Giovani Bernard has gained a lot of attention as being a potential starter for Cincinnati supplanting Benjarvus Green-Ellis.* However, he is dealing with a hamstring issue which limited him in practice at the end of last week.* It does not appear to be anything serious right now.* But just keep in mind if you draft him because hamstring injuries can linger or be re-aggravated at some point down the road.
Chris Ivory (RB-NYJ).
Jets new running back Chris Ivory has been dealing with a strained hamstring and does not know when he will be able to return to practice.* For a team with so much uncertainty and chaos, the Jets absolutely need their top projected running back on the field getting ready for the regular season.* With so many question marks about who will be the starting quarterback and whether any of their receivers can be counted on, the Jets will heavily rely on their running game this season which could bode well for Ivory from a fantasy perspective.* Right now there is no reason to think he won’t be on the field when the season starts, but draft him cautiously and hope that he comes back 100% from this injury.
